Do you ever find yourself stepping on the scale every day, or even every other day, to find the scale hasn’t moved? Maybe it has even gone up a pound or two? This can be so frustrating, especially when you feel like you are doing everything right, but the scale just isn’t showing results. Stop and take a deep breath. It’s happened to all of us at some point!
It’s important to realize that your weight can fluctuate from day to day. Instead of focusing on the numbers let’s focus on the wins (small or big, it doesn’t matter!) in our everyday lives! And when we experience these wins CELEBRATE them!
Non-scale victories can be any number of things that don’t involve a number on a scale.
Did you resist that piece of cake today? Win!
Maybe you completed a really difficult workout that you’ve been trying to conquer? Win!
Have you consistently consumed enough water? Win!
Trade in that candy bar for a healthier snack? Win!
Did you finally pull that old pair of jeans from the back of the closet…and they fit?! WIN!!
These wins feel really good and provide enough satisfaction to get over that number on the scale and keep going!!
Focusing on these little wins helps you stay motivated, which is such an important part of this journey. You can set smaller goals to help you focus on getting to these non-scale victories. Breaking your “bigger picture” down into “smaller pictures” helps create an action plan which can lead to these non-scale victories.
On days when you feel like the scale isn’t a win, find another win in this journey! They’re everywhere, you just have to look for them. These victories lead you to a bigger victory…you accomplishing your overall goal!
